Police in Pattaya, Chon Buri Province arrested German Citizen and Pattaya expat Mr. Klaus Joachim Pape, born 28.September 1956 after they received reports indicating that he had been luring underage girls for sex. The ring leading suspect has been identified as 64 year old Mr. Klaus Joachim Pape.
When they arrested Mr. Pape the police said, they also found a cellphone which stores many recorded sex-tapes between Mr. Pape and many girls reportedly aged under 15.
Police told reporters that many people reported that Mr. Pape claimed to be a local police informant, an interpreter, and a former German Police Force member in the district as he lured the victims to his residence in East Pattaya aka: the Darkside. The arrests were made as part of the sting operation Naga, which began earlier this year after CEOP identified an online network of suspected child abusers. CEOP chief executive Jim Gamble said: "This is a huge breakthrough from a child protection perspective.
His friends, a 67-year-old German Mr. Fritz Dieter Battener , the 62-year-old Americans Mr. Robert Roy Lond and Mr. Malcolm Henry Payne 59 as well as Swiss citizen Mr. Robert Alexander Horsmann 45 were also arrested in their nearby Pattaya residence following a joint operation between the German Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre and the Royal Thai Police.
All men were charged with sexually abusing children under the age of 15.
